I was using both 3name, and namemc, yet I couldnt change my username to a 3 character username that was available.
the screenshot provided below was me trying to change my user to vr3, for example
(I can't change it to anything at all)

If the username you want is unavailable, you will need to choose another name. Mojang support will not be able to help you get a username that is unavailable.
