That has nothing to do with riding the horse. Computers shut down from overheat, thus this is a technical support issue; this site is for bug reports only. For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center.
Although in this case you're better off talking to your manufacturer.

You can replicate the problem more than once? Are you definitely, positively sure that it was not a coincidence that your laptop turned off when your rode the horse?

Can you check %APPDATA%\.minecraft\crash-reports and see if there are any crash reports?
