when i went to the minecraft snap shot i made a horse stable with all the stuff like horse armor and horse spawn eggs. when i went back to my normal minecraft a went to the chest to check it and the spot where the horse egg was like a wolf spawn egg but it said "spawn" i acted like it was a spawn egg and tried to spawn what ever it was but nothing happened and that was wierd because i was in the normal minecraft on the same world so ya. sencerly: xXTNT_DudeXx

dude when i go to snap shot then go to normal minecraft the egg is still thair an all is says is spawn.
That's because it uses metadata, when you give yourself a spawn egg, you need to enter in the metadata for the specific mob.
Ie: "/give Player 383 100 64" gives you 64 stack of horse spawn eggs but "/give Player 383 64" gives you a blank, white spawn egg as no entity takes that number (I think)
well i didnt give it to my self i was playing mc snap shot and got the egg from my creative menu thing or what ever and it was in the same sopt when i played the normal minecraft.
I was using that as an example, the horse isn't in "normal" Minecraft, the horse is a part of the new update, 1.6, and the 1.6 snapshots. The spawn egg doesn't work because the meta data for the horse is for 1.6, 1.5.2 etc do not have horses, it will be blank spawn egg.
To Sum up what Castiel is trying to say... It doesn't matter how you got the spawn eggs (whether it be horse or not). If you bring it into a world, then change your game back to a version where that spawn egg doesn't exsist (i.e. 1.6 horses in 1.5.2 where no horses exsist), its going to revert to a generic "Spawn" egg.
one would think that but Spawn eggs are and item kind of like firework stars... they have a base (the spawn egg) and then the color, id, and information is attached to it on the back end. I think it was done for this exact purpose. To make it easier to add new mobs to the list of spawn eggs without coding another egg with the mob
Dude, not a bug, you're trying to use incompatible versions.
