When Riding a horse in creative mode, you cannot break blocks with a sword

I Was riding a Horse in creative mode in "Tunnelers Dream" flatmap preset
and i could not insta-break blocks while holding a diamond sword. the game acted as if i were in survival, however, when i switched to any other item (not a sword) i could break blocks again
