The launcher doesn't provide a download option for the server JAR for all Minecraft versions before 1.2.5.
When creating or editing a custom profile under "Launch profiles" there is a "Download server" option displayed, opening a download link in the webbrowser for this version's server JAR file. When selecting a Minecraft version before "release 1.2.5" (i.e. 1.2.4 or lower, including alpha and beta versions) from the "Version" drop-down menu this option is missing.
In the attached images you can see it displaying the option for a selected version of 1.2.5 and not displaying it for version 1.2.4.

Hi, we have started looking into this. The problem is that these versions are so old that we might not actually have the jars available internally anymore.
You might find what you are looking for in the Omniarchive.
The archive.org Wayback Machine appears to have some versions of the server available. For example, 1.1 is here: https://web.archive.org/web/20111031023051/http://www.minecraft.net/download
If you get the release date for the version you want from the wiki (https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Version_history) and then view the download page for just after that date on archive.org, you should be able to find most versions.
It would be great for hosting a nostalgia-style server. I would actually love to do this but currently there is no easy way of getting th eold server-jars.
