Unable to open the minecraft server.jar

Hi. I started running my own server for me and some friends a few years ago. Aside from some lags and connection issues, the server was fine over that entire time period. For some reason, around a week ago, the minecraft server.jar just didn't open anymore when I tried to. I wasn't able to open it since then so my hope was that the server.jar of the new minecraft version would be able to work, but sadly, it doesn't open as well. Also, the server worked perfectly fine with 1.16.3 except the last week, I remember updating Java around the same time the jar wasn't able to open anymore. When I try to open it with the command given on the minecraft website, the terminal states "Error: Unable to access jarfile minecraft_server.1.16.4.jar" and nothing happens at all. What could the issue be and how could I fix it?
