Bug fences Gate

Can you please update the description with more information?

You've placed some blocks of stone, placed the fence gate in between, destroyed the stone blocks, placed new stone blocks perpendicular and you'd assume that the fence gate should turn ?
Or did you all of the above and now you wonder why you can pass the fence gate when open but still perpendicular to the opening ?

I would think what he meant was that you can walk through the actual gates of the fence gate when it's open, maybe?
