Horses are suffocating from being pushed into blocks

I was testing the spawn eggs for horses and found that other horses or the player can suffocate the horse to death or just damage it for a second. You could simply just walk into it and it would just start suffocating. I also have found that they can just walk into a block and start to take damage and are only the horses that are the small baby horses while the adults never have this problem.
