[MC-210704] Dog will not teleport to me

Hello, so I am playing on my hardcore world, I recently beat the ender dragon and got a elytra so I was flying around looking for dogs, I was about ~1500 blocks away from my base and I flew over a ocean, found some wolves, tamed 4 of them, flew back over the ocean landed at my base and there is no wolves anywhere to be seen. The thing I am the most confused about is the fact that I had them NOT sitting down when I flew away.

Your pets can only teleport to you if they're in loaded chunks (i.e., if you're in a singleplayer world, if they're in render distance), and if they can teleport to a solid block near you. They cannot teleport into the ocean.

So I am just getting this stright, they cannot teleport over the ocean the im assuming?

Yes, unless the ocean is small or you're in multiplayer and another player is near the dogs.
