[MC-211607] Villagers, pets and path blocks have disappeared

My villagers, path blocks, animals, item frames have disappeared pretty much ruining my world that I've spent forever on.... Whats the fix?

So how do i find the worlds backup?

If you have created one you can find it in .minecraft/backups.

How do you get back to the other launcher? My world is wrecked and a backup did no good since I have no way to revert to the old launcher.

Backups are not related to the launcher...
The backup will only work in the version it was last opened with or later, so opening that with 1.16.5 too will break it again.
