If I do not sleep, the rain starts the next day and does not stop. I noticed this mostly by watching others play on multplayer, because in order to sleep while online, everyone must do it at once, so it hardly ever happens in singleplayer. This is a very big issue, because the rain slows down the game and is very loud.
