Placing block after jumping from an enchantment table causes desync

The Bug

A client-side desync can occur by placing blocks below you when jumping on top of enchanting tables.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Build the setup as shown in the attachment below.

  • Stand between the slab and the enchanting table.

  • Obtain a piece of dirt and switch into survival mode.

  • Whilst looking at the slab, jump and attempt to place the dirt on top of it.

  • Take note as to whether or not a client-side desync can occur by placing blocks below you when jumping on top of enchanting tables.

Observed Behavior

A client-side desync can occur by placing blocks below you when jumping on top of enchanting tables.

Expected Behavior

A client-side desync would not occur by placing blocks below you when jumping on top of enchanting tables.

I am able to confirm this behavior in both 1.17.1 and 21w43a. Here are some extra details regarding this problem.

The Bug:

A client-side desync can occur by placing blocks below you when jumping on top of enchanting tables.

I did it!! It's been a while!

This issue was present in 1.18.2 Pre-release 1, but no longer occurs in versions above or equal to 1.18.2 Pre-release 2. With that being said, this issue has been fixed in 1.18.2 Pre-release 2.
