While exploring a world generated with snapshot 21w06a, I came across a surface lava lake that had a "shell" of stone floating in the air above it.
The world seed is -30179096521967669 and the lava lake is located at 206, 62, -239.

The lava had burned off the trees in the area before I found it.
After re-creating the world with fire tick turned off, it seems the stone formed due to overhanging branches and leaves. I'm not sure if that is as intended.
