When you cut the leaf from a dripleaf with a shears, there are two situations, first the stem is still here (without breaking) and if you use bone meal on it, it doesn't make a new leaf. Also, you can put the leaf again with other orientation, making that the leaf is flying from the stem.
This could happen in creative, breaking the leaf and putting it again in other direction or in survival cutting it with a shears.
In the fisrt screenshot it can be seen that the leaf in the three orientations that aren't the one which the plant has at first, where the leaf and the stem aren't connected.
In the second screenshot it is shown the stems from the dripleaf after cutting the leaf.
In the third screenshot it can be seen the leaf in different orientation from their stem.
