[MC-217402] Server does not save prgress when I log back into it

When I played on my friend's server, I built a pillar to build limit and gathered resources. I disconnected and when I connected again, I was back where I previously started and all my progress from the last time I played was gone. I didn't have any of my resources and the pillar was gone. This was on Java Edition on version 1.16.5

Ok, thanks for your help. It was kind of half-solved, but the mod on Discord told me that there are too many possibilities of what could've happened to know. Most people told me it was server lag though.
