I can't craft certain objects in my game

I haven't been able to craft certain objects in my game even though I have all the ingredients for it. The recipe doesn't show up and you cant make the objects without the recipe even if you know it by memory. So far I have had problems with crafting books and bowls. The recipe hasn't shown up and I cant make either of them.
