first you place a block below you and press shift next walk forward still shifting and then you be standing in air

Shifting and walking to the edge of a block will stop you at the edge of a block. Even though you're gonna fall once you stop crouching, the player remains technically on the side of the block. This mostly can be considered as a graphical issue.
