When I clip inside a block connected to a water source, I see the moon instead of the sun, even when /gamerule DoDaylightCycle is false and it's day. I'm pretty sure this isn't supposed to happen.
Method to recreate:
Dig at least 3 blocks below surface
Fill every air block with water
Switch to spectator mode and face west
Move to where you can still see through blocks, but you're still touching the water (around .05 of a block)

It appears that you are looking down. The skybox is a sphere that rotates around the player, so the moon would be under you. WAI
