Players and Mobs fall off vehicles and other ridden entities upon world reload, glitching through blocks

When leaving and re-entering the game the player and other mobs

  • glitches trough the minecart and the block below, if just one block below the tracks

  • or sinks into the block when there are more blocks below the tracks. The minecart is invisible then.

Minecart is standing still.

Update: This applies to all ridden entities Minecarts, Boats and Pigs.

No, I think not. [MC-814] fits better.

It's because there's nothing to save an entity riding another entity. For example, animals in minecarts will exit upon reloading the chunk, and spider jockeys will un-jockey.

Can the thread title be updated to reflect that all mobs leave minecarts upon reload? This breaks redstone contraptions too; it may better get Mojang's attention if you changed the title.

@Ben Slimane Khaled Skander: Could not reproduce that "sitting Mob" issue, got instead a "sinking mob" issue, see screenshot.

I don't know if this is the same issue, but I'm experiencing something similar in 16w05a (I know, it's not the most recent snapshot, but if somebody experiences it in later snapshots, also note); When you get far enough away, entities will seem to dismount their vehicles, even though they're actually still on them (By reloading the world you can see they're still riding the entity). Is this the same thing or something else?

Very likely something else.

I tried searching if there's a bug report of this already with no luck, but I don't really want to report it because the chances somebody else already reported it are high. Search functions aren't really great in the Bug Tracker.

You might be talking about MC-96954. If not, just create a new ticket. We understand when obscure issues aren't found easily using the search function.
