Decorations can replace parts of igloos

The Bug:

Decorations can replace parts of igloos.

Just for clarification reasons, decoration blocks are blocks such as grass, ferns, seagrass, etc...

Here is an example:

Version: 1.17.1

Seed: 2271668349178406851
Coordinates: /execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s 27219.50 63.37 4203.19 158.03 13.60

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Generate a world with the seed provided above and teleport to the given coordinates.

  2. Look closely at the generation of the igloo and how nearby decorations intersect it.

  3. Take note as to whether or not decorations can replace parts of igloos.

Observed Behavior:

Decorations can replace parts of igloos.

Expected Behavior:

Decorations would not be able to replace parts of igloos.

I think that the problem here is also that the igloo is interrupted by the water pond. Maybe the water-pond-floating-grass-issue is incorrectly fixed?

I was able to reproduce this in 1.17 prerelease 1 using the provided seed and coordinates. Additionally, I found a second example on the same seed where a fern replaces a snow block, which causes a carpet to be floating on the fern.

/execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s 131731.63 66.26 155219.46 11.85 -55.50

Can you still reproduce this issue in the latest version or snapshot? From my own testing, I was unable to reproduce this issue in 1.21 Pre-Release 2 by creating a single biome world (snowy tiaga) and teleporting around looking for igloos. Even in dense forest areas, ferns or grass would not override the igloo generation.

Thank you for your report!
After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
