When I place a boat in the water, it will not go left or right. This happens even when I use my cursor to try and change the direction which I am facing.

are you pressing A/D to turn left/right.....? or not?
the direction the player is facing is independent from the boat's travelling direction (apart from some limits on looking too far left/right)
