[MC-226781] 1.17 pre1 Server-Jar won't work with normal JDK

I can't get the 1.17pre1 Server-Jar to work with the latest Java-Version

I tried it on multible Servers. On every Server i have the latest Java version installed.

the Command i tried was:

java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar server.jar nogui

When you say "latest Java version", do you mean the latest release of Java 8 or Java 16? (The minimum supported Java version was increased from 8 to 16 in snapshot 21w19a: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-21w19a.)
