Powered targets don't send neighbor changed updates when being repositioned by a piston

with this setup when you power the redstone or repeater next to the targetblock with the target block (this does not occur when you use a normal block and power that block). The piston moves the target block up because it gets powered with the redstone (that is powered through the targetblock) with a repeater I power the targetblock when it has moved up but if I connect any form of redstone, the redstone will be budded instead of powered. only if the targetblock gets moved up after 8gt it will behave normally.

-this happens to every redstone component not only redstone dust

Contains part of MC-108, however that the wire doesn't get powered is another bug, and I cannot recall having seen it on Mojira, so please don't close this bugpost as Duplicate of MC-108. It'd be great, in case the wire-related bug is in a bugpost already, if a mod/helper could let me know, thank you.

I could imagine that this is a case of MC-11193, but I'm not too sure myself.

Hmmm, MC-11193 doesn't fit for me..
If you were so kind to leave this open for the TechDevs to decide, they shall twist their brain regarding this!

OP points specifically towards the target block in their setup and issue explanation, claiming it's the only block with which this issue would appear; if this is correct, there might be something the Devs will have to figure out, both as for the target block itself, as well as what potentially other bugs that might play into this (if they do).

I might be completely mistaken of course, I haven't done any tests myself yet, and maybe it's more apparent and clear for you within your team to figure out or already know.
But at first glance it does seem like an own issue at the moment.

I replicated (I think) OPs setups to create different delays, worldsave is in

.
The last setup (seen from lapisblock at 0/0) is the one where the one repeater is set on full delay, and where it works, as OP described.

You don't have to place a block above the wire to test this, you can simply e.g. fire another snowball at the target block.

These are, however, just OPs setups, not own additional tests/setups that also have to be conducted.

The same issue also affects lightning rods. They also will not cause updates when moved while powered.

same issue with observers:MC-137127
also it doesn't send state updates, and will not redirect a redstone dust
idk if this is why observer dont pulse when pushed while powered, that is commonly used
but there's probably some contraptions that depend on this
