Game will not let me click and drag items

Every time I try to click items them move them the game will not let me select them. This is an issue in both single player and servers. I have to click and not release the left click button to move items, but even then it sometimes does not work. Playing on Hypixel, my favorite server, has been almost impossible for almost a month now. It makes any task difficult. I have tried logging out of my account, deleting the game, and even not playing until 1.17 to see if that would help, but nothing has worked.
