me and my friends live far from eachother, they can play together but i cant join their world, it says "unable to connect"

How are you trying to connect to their server? This does not appear to be a minecraft bug, but instead your own friend's server is broken.

Please provide the exact error message(s) that you receive upon attempting to join your friend's world.
