The damage from a conduit does not damage at the same rate at the range of 8 blocks.
Steps:
Create functional Conduit
Place Zombies in water at both 7 blocks (or anywhere between that point and the conduit) and 8 blocks away.
Observation: It takes 10 seconds (as expected, with 4 health or two hearts every two seconds) for Zombie to die at 7 blocks, but about twice as long for the zombie at 8 blocks to die (with longer periods of time between damage ticks).
Expectation: For mobs to take damage at the same rate, regardless of distance.

Can confirm in 23w41a. The conduit does the same damage for the zombie 7 blocks away, and 8 blocks away, but the time in between each attack from the conduit is different.
Can also confirm in 1.20.4 and 23w51b. 7 blocks away takes roughly 9 seconds, whereas 8 blocks away takes almost double that at roughly 18 seconds (both times started from when the zombie first takes damage).
Title should maybe be changed to something similar to "Conduit attack speed is inconsistent with distance", because the damage is the same, but just takes longer.
