Some biomes don't generate with their true name

Playing in a survival world, I come across a snowy mountains biome in 21w39a, but for some reason the game doesn't think it's there and instead thinks it is a snowy tundra (which it's not). There is a snowy taiga directly bordering it at the top, but a regular snowy taiga surely doesn't generate at y=120+. This weird patch of land has the exact same traits as a Snowy Mountains, but the game says there's no nearby tall/mountain biomes at all (including Snowy Mountains).

Open the F3 menu, and you'll see that the game says the Snowy Mountains is a Snowy Tundra, and /locatebiome does not say there's a snowy mountains within the search radius.

This is working as intended, from the experimental snapshots changelog:

Natural variation in terrain shape and elevation, independently from biomes. For example, forests and deserts could form up on a hill without needing a special biome just for that.

Snowy Mountains is a sub-biome of Snowy Tundra, and most sub-biomes are now no longer included in a default worldgen as a result of the change above.

The sub-biomes, including the Snowy Mountains, are now removed entirely in 21w40a, see MC-237666. Note that contrary to the linked report, the Snowy Tundra is still in the game; it has now been renamed to Snowy Plains.
