Minecraft uses It also uses Gson 2.8.0, which was released in Oct 2016 and is now 5 years out of date. It also uses Guava 21.0, which is of a similar age.
These libraries are extremely helpful for modders and plugin developers like myself. Being able to access these libraries' newest features.

I hardly consider using not-ancient versions of libraries a "feature request". We've had Java 16, why not go all the way and update everything else while we're at it?
