World was generated in alpha 1.0.4 updated to 1.7.3 beta than updated to 16.4 all whilst standing still then updated to 21w43a. Flying under the original chunks there is holes in the world which lead to the void.

I believe I have found areas where there is no bedrock at all in alpha versions while mining for diamonds, this could be related. I don't think bedrock generated at all yet in the alpha version I experienced this in
