Can't rename items in anvil anymore

so I was in a my realm some items and shulkers and putting them into my end chest. but after renaming a majority of the things I needed renamed the game glitched and for some reason my item was named somthing like NR (I can't remember EXACTLY what the 2 letters were but I know its not what I named it.) and then it auto corrected to what I named it. but then I tried to name other items but the item was not moving to the end slot on the anvil. and I tried deleting the anvil in gamemode c, moving the anvil into a new chunk, changing what I wanted to name it and so far no results.
