Comparing 1.17.1 sloped rails with 1.18 pre-5 rails shows a visual difference in the brightness.

To elaborate on Avoma: the 1.17 screenshot has the rails on the shadow-less axis, while the 1.18 one has them on the shadow (look at the blocks they're on, in 1.17, the shadow is on the left/right, in 1.18 on the front/back). That rails are shaded this much is because of how the model file rotated the element, and the report for that is 185936.
