Incredibly bad game stutters when loading new/fixing chunks. I know 1.18 has performance issues but my frames are relatively ok with 70 average on low settings but bad stutters thrown throughout. Its not like I have a terrible pc too, i have a GTX 1060 3GB, Ryzen 2600 and 16gbs of ram. I know you might be getting spammed with these types of reports, but you gotta understand a fix is necessary before making the newer versions of the game. reloading the game seemed to fix the issue for now but it could come back

1. Load game on 1.18
2. Load into a world created before 1.18
3. Depending on computer, you may see results when loading a lot of new chunks.

If multiple different people are reporting terrible performance from the same thing (world generation), then I think there's something actually wrong with how the world generation was written.
I'm thinking about opening bug report of similarish fashion, on 1.18 singleplayer I got insane disk writes from minecraft, by just walking I can top it to 2mb/sec of constant writes into region files and HDD is just crying. This is accompanied by lots of stuttering. Versions prior had very low level of writes and much smoother (1.17 for example, you notice it right away)

However, this issue is Invalid.
Performance drops are expected to happen between versions, especially in snapshots. Simply stating that "My game is laggier" is not helpful for Mojang to diagnose your issue. If you can pinpoint a specific cause when lag happens for you, please open a new report for that specific issue. If you think this might be a hardware issue please contact Community Support as they might be able to help with your issue.
