Walls and Fences top textures are incorrect!

The Bug

The top texture of the Walls and Fences is incorrect. The texture should be rotated and from other parts of the Texture.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Place 3 Walls/Fences next to each other

  2. Look at the top

Observed Results

The texture is not continuous from other faces of the walls/fences.

No side is correct.

Expected Results

The texture would be continuous from other parts of the walls/fences.

At least one side is correct.

Do NOT intentionally duplicate your own report! MC-247430

And honestly, I'd prefer this consistent texture rotation over a rotated texture that's not going to match well either.

Yes, this relates to MC-247430.

But since it has been resolved as invalid, I created this one, which isn't invalid.

Question to MC-247430 (I waited two weeks for a response):

Why are rotated Textures not supported? Glazed Terracotta exists and is directional.

You actually duplicated MC-247430, then changed that one up, despite it having been resolved as a feature request. This report is a duplicate, and you know it.

I'm not quite sure what @unknown meant, as it clearly is already a thing (both on block state, and element face levels), but regardless, it is deemed a feature request, and not a bug.

@Dhranios

This is technically a duplicate, yes, but I waited first of all now two weeks for a response and second of all here is an idea which is possible without rotated texture. In a resolved Issue, no mod is going to look.

PS: if you rotate them properly, every side would look right.

Just because you got no response (which Mojang isn't obliged to provide), doesn't mean you can go around and make duplicates. Mods and Mojang do see comments/changes on old reports too.

This report exist because it is a better version of the old one, which was marked as resolved without a reason which makes sense. I waited two weeks for him to explain what he meant further, but I didn't get a reply, so this one exist, so I can get one.

Also, I'm pretty frustrated because I spend a few hours In total on this bug report, and it was marked as invalid without a reason. (Seems to happen often here)

I waited two weeks for him to explain what he meant further, but I didn't get a reply, so this one exist, so I can get one.

Again, Mojang isn't obliged to reply. You creating this report only increases workload for moderators.

The only reason Mojang needs to say something is a feature request is Mojang calling it a feature request/intended behavior. Just because you don't like it doesn't change that in any way. This is deemed a feature request, whether you like it, or the explanation, or not.

Resolving as a duplicate of MC-247430.

As @unknown already said, this is a feature request, and not a bug. This alone is reason enough to close it as invalid – no matter if you think it would be easy to implement or not. It's only up to the bug tracker staff to decide whether something is a bug or a feature request.

In this particular case, glazed terracotta uses rotated block models – not rotated textures. As such fixing this would require either implementing more block models for these types of blocks, or rotated textures in block models.

Anyway, the comments section here on the bug tracker is not for discussions, so please don't continue discussing here. We have Reddit or Discord for that.

Please also do not intentionally create duplicates of your own bug reports. If you continue doing so, you may be banned from the bug tracker.
