Loading world causes computer to think the battery is dead

When loading a world on 22w14a for the first time (new world or upgrading an old world), the computer thinks the battery has died and will turn off. The computer must be plugged in before it will turn back on. This happened on two separate macbook pros at 15% charge and at 60% charge. I was not able to reproduce the issue by restarting minecraft or by deleting the snapshot from my versions folder and restarting minecraft.
