Memory leak on title screen

I left minecraft running overnight and most of today in the background of my laptop. Under normal circustances i dont do this but i forgot i had it running in the background and my computer was in standby mode for most the day. I came back to minecraft and my whole computer being very laggy and i opened task manager and minecraft was useing all my avalible ram it being 10gb and the game was on the title screen. Under normal conditions minecraft tends to max out on my pc at 1-2 gb of ram useage and i dont alocatr 10 gb to it and i had to force close the program and it would not let me get a crash dump file.

If you say there's a memory leak, do you also have any further information on this, e.g. what could have caused it? How did you measure the used memory? Do you use any mods?

To be honest the only thing i did was leave the game open on the title screen for about a day cause i forgot i had it open. When i came back and tried useing it was useing over 10 gb of ram and riseing semi fast. Only thing that happened was my computer was in standby mode abd i woke it up I dont use any mods. What i used to measure my memory useage was windows inbult task manager and on the sevices tab i saw mincraft and when i was watching it for a min the ram number was going up at about 50-100 mb a second no clue what triggered it.
