Since my realm hasn't updated to 1.19 yet - I do wish you guys would find a way to fix the delay on that 🙂 pretty please - I need to use 1.18.2 to access it. However, when I go to the installations tab and set it up - as I have done before - I get this message after clicking 'play':
Failed to download file.
Error details: Couldn't select a valid version of the Java runtime to download.
I haven't seen this before, and the launcher seems to run 1.19 okay (I set up a test world in single player). This is a brand new MacBook Pro 2021, and a new installation of the game. I've tried various solutions like re-installing, restarting etc, with support, but nothing yet.

According to your description you are on a MacBook Pro 2021 which i'm guessing has the m1 chip inside. This is an arm based processor and therefore Minecraft launcher enables "use ARM java runtime " by default. Disabling this should allowed you to start a 1.18.2 instance.
I would also add to this that in testing it on an iMac, 1.18.2 runs okay. So the issue for sure is with whatever it seems to want to 'download' in terms of a runtime environment. Unfortunately there's no clear and jargon-free way to do this. So, Vibestock, hoping you can respond to the above and show us the way 🙂
Sorry for that, but yes you would go to settings(in bottom left corner) and under java edition settings you will see ARM java RuntimeÂ
If you're having this issue please see this comment by vibestock, and this screenshot for a solution
same for me
