I noticed this in my server with my friends (It's hosted by a third-party source, so it probably isn't something with my computer) and started testing in my own creative world. As you can see, this Warden was trapped inside this box made out of wool, so it wouldn't be provoked by anything, and didn't burrow for well over 60 seconds. Is this how it's meant to be? Every search-result I get says it should go away after about 60 seconds, but it just won't!
Finally, after 6 full minutes, it burrowed away, but I don't think that's how it's meant to work...

I've got the exact same problem, "naturally spawned" unprovoked Warden does not despawn (I waited about 30 minutes). I'm playing on a Paper server that was updated 1.18 -> 1.18.1 -> 1.18.2 -> 1.19.
Plugins: Voicechat, SkinsRestorer, LuckPerms, nLogin, Dynmap, CustomJoinAndQuitMessage
If its needed I can share the server.properties, paper.yml or the world files.
Should I rather report it to the Paper bug tracker?
Still a bug as of today. Same case as the previous reports, and after trying to progress with avoid it for 6+ hours with going else where or disconnecting I got impatient and was killed by it. After going back to world spawn I worked my way back down but by the time I got there everything I had on me despawned but the Warden was still there. This is a server on version 1.20.1.
I've also noticed this.
In my survival world, I just dug down into an Ancient City, and of course I accidentally spawned the Warden. I managed to get far enough away from it (it certainly helped that it spawned in a space it couldn't jump out of), and I started playing the waiting game. after about a minute and a half, I began thinking "hmm, isn't the warden supposed to despawn by now?" and a few minutes after that, I knew something was wrong.
He's just standing there,
[media]menacingly!sniffing and whining. not getting angry, not prepping the sonic boom attack, and not digging back down. what gives?
