Inconsistent sponge absorption depend on the direction

Seem like the sponge absorption facing North or South is bigger compared to West or East

not sure if this is meant to be a feature or not, already present in 1.18 but got way worse on 1.19.

Does MC-134951 describe your issue?

I don't think so.

Plus i can't replicate the issue shown there, atleast with that exact same setup

I think the issue here is that the absorbing radius isn't equal distance so North and South is a bigger size then west and each which is what MC-134951 describes.
