[MC-25803] Portal blocks cannot be placed next to each other

I was trying to make a customized nether portal, but when I placed 2 portal blocks side by side they disappeared. I tried again in the proper portal base but the same thing happened. Please fix his, it would be really helpful to me.

Though this block must be obtained with an inventory editor, it is not possible to place two nether portal blocks next to each other in the vanilla game simply because the block updates, then realizes it's not in a frame, and so, disappears.
