I had a blank decorative pot in my inventory, and when I crafted another pot using shards, the old pot gained the texture of the decorative pot.
The only way to return it to its blank texture is to restart the game. Reloading textures using F3+T doesn't work.
I have attached a clip of me discovering this for the first time.

Same thing happened to me.
in a crafting table i put a blank decorated pot in the center, with pottery shards above, below, and on each side. That is not a crafting recipe so it won't have an output. Then i picked the blank pot back out of the center of the grid. So i didn't even craft anything, it just changed the texture when i picked it back up.
