When a dog dies after you go to the end (possibly nether) it will still be there

tutorial on how to do this

  1. build 3 blocks up on one of the edges of the obsidian end platform

  2.  place a rail

  3.  place around 30 tnt minecarts

  4. get back to the overworld

  5. get a wolf through the end portal and jump in without armor

  6.  you'll die; then the wolf will die then respawn go back through

  7.  and the wolf will be there

  8. (btw I think it has to be tamed)

Can confirm this behavior, but not with the provided steps to reproduce. Below I have expanded the description, and added a more reliable set-up to reproduce.

Description of Issue
If a player enters through and end portal after their dog does, and both immediately die, the wolf will not properly die.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Build the redstone contraption shown below on top of the obsidian end platform.

  2. Stand on the iron trapdoor shown above.

  3. Push the stone button. (Primes the TNT, and sends the player to the overworld)

  4. Run this command in the overworld. (Replace <PlayerName> with your own username)

    /summon wolf ~ ~ ~ {Owner:<PlayerName>}
  5. Send the tamed wolf into an end portal

  6. Enter end portal yourself

Observed Results:
The player will die, and the wolf will appear to be dead, but after re-entering the portal the tamed wolf will still be alive.

Expected Results:
After the wolf is killed upon entering the end portal, it would stay dead.

Notes:

  • While this setup is mostly reliable, the issue does not always occur. It may take multiple attempts to reproduce.

  • Was unable to replicate this behavior with cats

  • Was unable to replicate this in the nether
