When the crafter is powered by a redstone source, it produces a redstone signal, disabling and hoppers connected to it that are feeding in items.

I assume you had a redstone line running into the crafter, which means that just like any other solid block, the crafter would then be powered. The block isn't outputting signal, it's just conducting redstone power, a more underlying mechanic. 🙂
⚠️ Please do not mark Unreleased Versions as affected. You don't have access to them yet.
We have removed it and added the latest released version
Please edit the Affects Version/s field and select the specific Released Version you were using when you encountered the reported issue.
