Renaming a book and quil in an anvil makes it so you cant write in the book.
Steps to create bug:
1.Get a book and quil
2. Rename it in an anvil to anything.
3. Then try to write in it.
NOTE: I did this in multiplayer bukkit 1.6.2. I dont know if it makes a difference but I thought i should mention that.

Bukkit isn't fully completed for 1.6.2 quite yet. They are still developing the code and fixing bugs and stuff (this, for example), so it's going to have bugs.
Trust me. I've used Bukkit dev builds before, and have paid the price once or twice.
My suggestion is: Stay in the most recent Recommended build (which is currently 1.5.2), and wait for a Beta build, at least (they are usually less buggy, but still not complete).
