How to reproduce:
Put some redstone components like a piston or a dispenser next to a crafter. Soft power the components, and they will work fine. But soft power the crafter and it will transmit redstone power to the ajacant components and also BUD them. See attached images for more info.

This is just MC-108. The button in the middle is BUD powering the dispenser and piston, just the crafter is what updates them to preform their actions.

Not "essentially", it's just that, MC-108,there's no technicality here. Replace the crafter with anything else that reacts to redstone power (eg a redstone lamp, or fence gate) and the same happens.

'essentially' was not intended to be used to convey technicality, but that this is that same issue, only using a crafter instead of another block, as clarified in both the later sentence, and video.
