The bug:
I have found a simple mistake in the subtitles in the game. I found it when I translated the game to my language on Crowdin. The source string is : “Fireball whooshes”. It should be Firecharge. It even says in the Key: "subtitles.item.firecharge.use" and the reference key when making a resource pack: subtitles.item.firecharge.use.
Notice:
This is not when the firecharge gets used in a dispenser. This is exclusively when it is used just like a flint and steal. I am not asking to change something. I am just asking to correct a misspelling from the developers
h3 How to reproduce:
Be in any world and have the default language, US English, enabled. And have the subtitles off course enabled.
Use a firecharge as a flint and steel and light something on fire like shown in the screenshot.
Notice that Fireball is used in the subtitle, even dough you just used a firecharge.{*}{*}
I have even checked in the game. This gets used for the firecharge, not the fireball. To change fireball to firecharge, then everything will fit together seamlessly.
Affected Translation Strings:
Key | Current String | Expected String | URL on Crowdin |
---|---|---|---|
item.minecraft.fire_charge | Fire Charge | Fire Charge | |
subtitles.item.firecharge.use | Fireball whooshes | Fire Charge whooshes |

@Dhranios. This is not an entity. This is for the ITEM firecharge. Nothing in the game implies that this is for an entity. As I proved for myself by seeing the key this belongs to and that it is used when the firecharge is used.
Ah, you're correct, this event is exclusively for manually using it, not when it gets fired by a dispenser (which the string implies), that instead recycles the blaze shooting sound event.
In any case, it is still a change request, and not a bug (especially in the way you wrote this report).
II have been suggested to try to reach you @j_p_smith. Because I feel like my report has been misunderstood and permanently lost attention. I have edited the report to state that this is not a Change request. It is a report where I want a misspelling from the developers to be corrected to what it should have been. The creation of the report would not at all let me choose something else than a Bug anyway.
The point is that the noun in the subtitle is not the same as what is actually happening. As said, this is not about the fireball that ghast and dispensers can shoot. This is only when the item firecharge is used as a flint and steel, as seen in the screenshot that I have later added to the report.
It is very simple to reproduce:
Be in any world and have the default language, US English, enabled. And have the subtitles off course enabled.
Use a firecharge as a flint and steel and light something on fire.
Notice that Fireball is used in the subtitle, even dough you just used a firecharge.
I originally reported this on Crowdin, but I was told that Mojang/the developers doesn't look there for fault in source strings. That I should report it here.
