When I try to get the classic dirt background back it works fine in the main menu but not when I have a world open. This applies to both the options menu and changing dimensions.
This is the same for the in-game Programmer Art as well as three separate third-party resource packs made specifically for this purpose. (Note: at least one of these third-party plugins uses the files from Programmer Art.)

After looking into all 3 packs, it seems like none of them actually replace the pause menu background textures with the dirt background. Please make sure in the future that the resource packs use dirt background textures for the following files: gui/inworld_menu_background, gui/inworld_menu_list_background, gui/inworld_header_separator, gui/inworld_footer_separator. As for changing dimensions not showing a dirt background, that is intended per the 1.20.5 changelog:
The animated Nether Portal texture is displayed when changing dimension to or from The Nether
The animated End Portal effect is displayed when changing dimension to or from The End
Hi Jarl - thank you so much for your help, I have largely been able to get it working.
I do have one question - is there a way to have the classic clear background (showing the game) for the pause and advancements menus while not showing the game in the header and footer of the options menus (like Language and Video Settings)?
Thanks again 🙂
I'm not sure about third-party resource packs but the behavior exhibited by the Programmer Art resource pack seems to match <1.20.5 (when these UI changes were introduced). Can you link any of the resource packs you're using to replace all backgrounds with the dirt background?
