The enchantment table does not recognize items that do not have built-in enchantments. If you add a custom enchantment that supports custom items, such as a potato, the enchantment table will not work with the potato, even if the custom enchantment works on, say, a chestplate.

@apple502j I am not defining a #non_treasure tag, but I did add it to the #in_enchanting_table tag. And I can make the enchant show up in the enchanting table for books, armor etc. just not for otherwise unenchantable itemsΒ

Can replicate. This happens with any custom item regardless if you add it to the Primary Items subset, or if there are regular weapons/tools covered by the enchantment set, etc etc. I cannot find a case where it works properly for custom items.
