Piston improperly powered by repeater

I found that a piston can be actuated by a powered repeater when the repeater is pushing power into a block two blocks above the piston (one "block" of air in between). At no point does the repeater directly power the piston itself, nor a block touching the piston. This is similar to resolved MC-15208, but is limited to this exact scenario.
