When I used "Q" to drop an item in the creative item menu, it dropped normally. When i picked it up, I got two of the item I dropped, even though the item I dropped only rendered as one item, and I dropped only one item. To duplicate, get at least two of any item and drop it using Q in the creative item menu.

Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while ingame and attach the crash report ([minecraft|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt) here.
Are you sure you didn't pick up the item from the dispenser? Can you reproduce in a newly generated world?
