zombie villager tracking causing lag on servers

when zombies are tracking villagers they are causing alot of lag on the server. i have seen this with other servers.
this happens when villagers are in closed spaces and the zombies are trying to get to them but can't.
the server log when this is happing is giving the server overload message until you put the difficulty onto peaceful
